Combat-Ready: Must-Have Military Tactical Gear

Serving in the military is one of the greatest honours a person can have. These people are selfless, and caring and love their country and its citizens. Military life isn't easy. It requires a lot of training, dedication, hard work and a lot of gear. Besides the firearms and uniform, there are some extra pieces you should have to make your military life much simpler and easier.

Tactical Harness

This is a piece of gear that will be of great help. It's very practical and can store a lot of equipment. To make it as functional as possible, manufacturers used the modular lightweight load-carrying equipment (molle) system. This creates an efficient and practical tactical harness. You can carry everything you need, without compromising the gear’s functionality and integrity.

In simple words, a harness will be your personal organiser. It has many straps and buckles to keep it sturdy and close to your body. It also includes some attachment details so you can store and organise your stuff. It's made with adjustability in mind. That's why almost every part of it is flexible and can cater to your needs. Having at least two harnesses can be a game-changer when you’re on a mission.

The straps over the shoulder and in the back always have extra padding. This will make you more comfortable and will prevent friction or bruises when you load it with equipment. One harness should have 8 attachment points, 4 in the back and 4 in the front. Multiple attachment points mean more stability and extra support while moving.

Of course, materials matter as well. They play a key role in the durability of the harness. It should be made of sturdy, strong materials that can withstand a lot of wear and tear. One of the best materials for the job is heavy-duty nylon. It's durable and hard to damage and it’s often used in other military accessories such as backpacks.

This is a piece of gear that’s a must-have for many reasons. The number one reason is that it keeps you organised. It has a simple design, it’s easy to handle and the molle webbing gives you a lot of room for many attachments. You can use it to store knives, gun holsters, magazine pouches, flashlights and other essentials. Since its invention, the harness has revolutionised the way the army carries its gear around.

Tactical Belt

The belt is a very important part of the military tactical gear. It's the place where you store your everyday carry equipment that includes magazine carriers, guns, phones, knife sheaths, communication and many other tools. Just like the tactical harness, the belt is made of heavy-duty nylon. This is one thing that sets it apart from the everyday, conventional leather belt.

However, not all nylon belts are created equal. The best ones have scuba webbing, which is a nylon and polypropylene combination. This mixture resists abrasions, rips, and cuts quite well. A loop liner or double stitching is always welcomed for an extra layer of reinforcement.

The belt’s loop size can vary, but it should be at least 4cm. Stay away from leather tactical belts, they’re often a scam because manufacturers don’t use genuine leather. Adjustability will give you the best fit and make you feel comfortable. A micro-adjustable buckle is a great way to do this. Sometimes you’ll just need to rapidly take off the belt so look for a quick-release system. And of course, take note of the size because this is not a one-size-fits-all situation.

Backpack

All of the military backpacks are made of strong and durable materials. They're always waterproof and can start up to a lot of wear and tear considering the harsh weather and terrain conditions they have to go through. These backpacks have a lot of pouches, pockets and webbing as storage space. Depending on the amount of gear you have you can choose a bigger or a smaller backpack.

They should have an ergonomic back for support and cushioned shoulder straps to relieve the pain from the heavy load. It also prevents spine and neck damage. If you feel your backpack is filled to the brim, you can always use the military harness as extra storage space. The inside compartments can make a difference. Each section can hold different items, weapons, food, clothing, tools and much more.

Gloves

The main function of tactical gloves is to protect the hands from injuries, severe weather, and scrapes. As a vital piece of tactical gear, they will help you during shooting and fighting. There are several types of gloves on the market, and they’re made for different purposes and have different functions.
Fingerless gloves are great if you’re working with firearms all the time. Besides giving you a lot of protection they also provide a firm, solid grip on the weapon. As a result, you’ll be more precise with targets and be able to get things in and out of the backpack, harness and belt faster.
If you need extra protection, you should invest in knuckle gloves. Knuckle gloves are made for hand-to-hand combat. That's why they have the knuckle area wrapper with thermoplastic rubber. If you’re stationed in harsh weather conditions, insulated gloves will keep your hands warm at all times. And if you’re handling electronic devices a lot, touchscreen gloves should be your first choice.

Multitool

If you’re on a mission, a multitool can become one of the most important pieces of gear you own. It's a practical and versatile tool that comes in many tool combinations and sizes. The smallest version is the keychain type. It can fit in your pocket and is lightweight but doesn’t have a lot of tools.

Pocket multitools are bigger and have more tools. But if you really want to step up your game, buy a full-size multitool. You can put it in your backpack, on your belt or even on your harness. Some of the tools you’ll get are a knife, can opener, scissors, pliers, awl, ruler, wire cutters, tweezers, screwdriver, saw, wrench, bottle opener and much more.
